The Analog Files: Long Live Vinyl Records

The Analog Files: Long Live Vinyl Records

Long live the king of audio: the vinyl record. Sure, the audio quality may be inferior to some, but for vintage lovers like me, that's the best part. All those crackles and pops give the sound a rich, contextual character. It's not just another digital file on your phone--it's an analog memento from another era. So put down your phone and give vinyl another spin.

{Segue alert} Speaking of vinyl, more records are coming to Half Pint Salvage very soon. I've got several classics and oddities lined up from my various thrift store outings from earlier this year. So stay tuned!

Meanwhile, a few classics are coming from my personal collection:

My personal vinyl record collection--ready for listening!

Before you ask, no, the "Xanadu" soundtrack will never be for sale. Never! And Dusty Springfield is a permanent resident. But Simon and Garfunkel, The Beatles, and other classic artists and albums are coming soon.

Back to Dusty Springfield. Well, sort of. If you're a vintage lover / collector like me, you've been looking for a way to display or hang your favorite records...like this:

Dusty Springfield record on display thanks to a nifty Record Props stand!

I picked up these stands from Record Props. They allow you to display your albums on a shelf or even hang them up on the wall (alongside the actual record). An awesome gift for my fellow audiophiles out there!

Where was I? Oh yes. Several new records coming to HPS in the coming months. Check back soon! Until then, scroll through a few classics that have made an appearance over the past few years:

Janet Jackson, "Control" from 1986

"1984" from Van Halen

"Miami Vice" Soundtrack - Songs from the 1980s TV show!

One word: "Flashdance".
