It has long been a polarizing issue amongst Star Wars fans: were the Ewoks cute, funny and integral to the Return of the Jedi plot? Or were they childish, annoying and take away from the seriousness of the movie? Personally, I'm a hardcore Ewok fan. But that's mostly because I loved (update: I still do) the original Ewok-voiced end song. Long live 'Yub, Nub'!
At any rate, what's not debatable is how utterly awesome the 1983 Kenner toy version of the Ewok Village Playset was.
Standing at about 18" tall and nearly as wide, this super realistic toy was a blast to play with because it had features galore: a swinging boulder, human spit-roasting fire pit, C-3PO's regal chair, 3 realistic huts, a hand-operated "elevator", and a booby trap cargo net!
So while us Ewok fans may have lost our original 'Yub Nub' end song (thanks a lot "Special Edition"), this classic toy will exist forever! In fact, it's now available in the Half Pint Salvage Etsy shop!
